Chosen - Synopsis

“The world has been changed forever by the Unlocking.”


Set in a post-apocalyptic future of Earth in the year 2142, lives Jaden Stewart, a young tomboy of seventeen. The world will never be the same for Jaden or anyone else ever again. Overcome by greed, power and destruction, the war-torn world of earth will give birth to a whole new legacy that will survive for future generations to come. Unless…something is done to change the future, a hidden war within a false peace will ensue a new beginning, a dawning of a new era will be born.

The Unlocking gave humans a powerful supernatural power known as Psyche. A unique power sealed away deep within one’s mind. Things never thought to be possible, soon become possible. Most of humanity has received the Unlocking.

In the year 2121, an unforgivable chain of events would leave the world shattered and broken as World War III explodes onto the scene, but stops suddenly by the arrival of the mysterious organization known as Obscure. Treated as saviours, Obscure finds acceptance amongst society, quickly rising in power and control. Then slowly one-by-one the world’s vast population begins to slowly vanish, leaving cities, towns, and places deserted, empty and forgotten, long abandoned by its inhabitants.

When Jaden discovers these mystifying events in her dreams of her wandering the vast empty world, in search of survivors of what occurred to cause the vast majority of the population to simply disappear without a trace. She meets a young man that would soon drag her into a struggle for mankind and the fate of the planet.

Awakening to a world that has lost its light, she discovers that she holds the last bit of light left of the broken world of Earth. After Obscure discovers her, they plan to kidnap her but are foiled by the survivors who have been branded by Obscure as rebels known as Mavericks.

Thus the fate of the planet as well as the inhabitants, who lives there are at stake, begins a violent struggle for the bitter truth of a stark reality that may contain no future for those who have hoped… Everything rests in her hands as time begins to stir between those who have concealed the truth and those who struggle to reveal the hidden truth. The truth will be revealed.

I thought, it might be nice to have some sort of idea what Chosen is about. Hopefully, this sheds some light one anything that was vague in the prologue...

I like the simplicity of which you have managed to lay out the series of events. It's a clear synopsis of perfect length.

So I'm guessing this is more of the fantasy genre than Sci-fi?

And am I correct in assuming that this is completely unrelated to your 'parallel hearts' series?

The idea kind of died away, but some forms from that story may appear in this. I always try to do a similiar theme in all of my stories. Whether its love, or a lesson or a perpective on something of the sort or whatever. I try to display it in a way that hasn't been explored in a way.

And Damn. Well, if I ever could write those stories, I believe they'll sell real well. That's IF I ever read them, which I have no idea about when or where and such. So I wouldn't count on it... Sadly.

And for the second last question about it being the fantasy genre than Sci-fi.

It's both in a way.

I can understand that, but for me I find it more interesting when it ain't restricted to one genre. And I often have trouble categorizing mine. But here's one thing I can say on the subject is that one genre usually stands out more than the others and may switch at times. It's really quite unpredictable, really...

I know. I mean, just having some kind of genre tacked to it gives me an idea of what kind of elements the story will consist of. Not to restrict anyone.

I.e. Fantasy = new universe, laws of magic. That kind of thing, whereas maybe I just want to read some kind of realistic romance.

All that said, I do believe that it might be for the best if your story doesn't switch and change so it fits into all genres at a point, because it might become too complicated. You don't want to try and do everything, because then you'll overeach and not be able to it all well.

It won't get THAT complex.

I meant that it will be most likely centered in one genre, but if it does swtich into another genre, it will eventually return to the original one. Not to worry. If it gets far (which I hope it does) than it maybe more obivous, but at this point, it's hard to tell.

I'm up to Chapter 11 (handwritten version), but I'm trying to get it typed up ASAP. And I have a few novel ideas related to this one, which will probably become #1 in the series (if it gets that far), then #2 and then #3 and so on.

I ain't really sure at this point.

Oh, and reguarding the Roleplaying thing. I researched some Mafia stuff and found some interesting things if anyone is curious about it. And I think I got a position I can do.

That's sort of interesting but... Me, a bouncer?! What a laugh for the guys that come up to have... I rather be an errand-boy, umm... girl. Or whatever the female version is... But Of course, you guys could joke about that, but I'll be like, "I ain't one, cuz I'm too damn short to be one!"

Yeah, but I don't think there's a topic place to discuss this. That's why I brought it up. And actually, quite surprisely I found the "Ten Commandments" Mafia-style! It's really something!
